About You

Why does the world feel so “hard”?

The deck seems stacked against you, and life holds all the cards.

Life expects so much from you – from all the roles you hold as a parent, spouse, employee, and the list goes on.

Then, it deals you with so many unexpected twists and turns, and you can barely catch your breath. Reacting and reacting, trying to anticipate what’s around the next bend – that just doesn’t feel good.

As for the pain that already exists and often unknowingly controls so much, it will diminish – no longer will it control you.

No longer will it be your primary emotion. No longer will it be you. Instead, it will be a feeling you have every now and then.

Gripping yourself for the unknown can make you feel powerless, and that’s truly scary.

But you’re not powerless.

You’ll never be able to guess every turn that lies ahead of you, but through therapy, you can manage them better.

You can learn how to take control of the deck and what to do – or not do – next, so you can keep present.

The existing pain will diminish – no longer will it control you. It will be something you feel now and then.

About Me

Heedlessness

Often, life can pass us by without our even noticing.

We self-sabotage so often it becomes instinctual – like staying in situations that don’t feel good, accepting negative treatment, or getting into unhealthy relationships. Sometimes they feel more comfortable.

Our emotions – particularly depression and anxiety – strap us into exhausting roller coaster rides, sending us careening from side to side, top to bottom, with their unpredictability.

Cultivating Purpose

My mission is to help you dive deep into intentionality. To dive into yourself.

To reclaim who you are, what you want, what isn’t and is okay with you, to reject abuse and accept good instinctually. To process pain, grieve the past, and accept and reject what you want.

To get you living life on your terms.

And I can help.

I’ve been there. I’ve been through the months of depression, the fear of depression, passive suicidality, anxiety that leads to panic attacks, debilitating low self-esteem.

And I continue to work through issues as they come.

I’ll place the same focus, persistence, curiosity, compassion, and patience I put on myself on you.

Because you deserve it.

You deserve to be free. To live your life free without the fear of anxiety, depression, and trauma.

You deserve contentment and peace of mind.

The Boring Details

I graduated from Rutgers University (May 2016) and Columbia University (May 2019). I trained in structural family therapy under consultants from the Minuchin Center.

In graduate school, I also studied the DSM 5 and all the ways disorders appear in adults and children. I’ve also continued my own studies in Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal theory, trauma-informed practices, components of DBT, and CBT. I have completed the required EMDR trainings and can provide EMDR therapy.

I have my LMSW and practice in New York and New Jersey under Greenagel Counseling Services, LLC.

I use narrative therapy, trauma-informed care, chair work, mindfulness, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, elements of CBT, and DBT in my therapy.

Most of my experience is with the POC/black/spiritual community.

When I’m Not in the Therapy Room

I am thinking a lot. I enjoy existential questions, and I love going deeply into them.

I go to a nearby park, lay on the ground, soak up the sun, and feel the coolness of the earth on my back – always with a good book and sometimes with a coffee.

I spend time with my nieces and nephews – I’m currently at 13! I love their smiles, laughs, and their sweet, sassy, strong, and thoughtful personalities.

I take photos of people I love – it’s my way of expressing affection, which is to capture the beauty I see and show them what I love.

I write with friends. I enjoy self-exploration and expression through poetry.
