Trauma Recovery

Walking the Rope – without a Net

Trauma: It can hit you fast or slow – come at you with or without warning – and seep into your life.

When trauma occurs, especially if it happens to you as a child multiple times with no safety offered, you may internalize it.

It informs the way you think of yourself and the world and alters nearly every relationship – whether with people, work, the self, food, substances, etc.

In a Fog – without Your Footing

These new relationships are often painful. Before long, you may suffer from recurring depression or anxiety, ailments that make sense considering how unhealthy the new relationships can be.

These experiences are a reaction to consistent negative thoughts:

“Others will love me only if I am successful – pretty – smart – skinny….”

“If someone loves me, then I will be important enough to be cared for…”

“The world is full of harm, and the only way to avoid harm is to become the strongest – most successful – funniest.”

Nothing makes sense anymore, and it’s hard to find your way.

A New World

The crux of my work is in recovery from trauma. I can help you change these thoughts, make the world not just bearable – but a place to thrive and help you actively choose life.

I do this by listening, inviting you to be compassionate toward yourself and to partner with yourself.

We work on the actual beliefs you have about yourself, and we help you get into a place where you are actively choosing your life.

We work on your trauma. The thoughts about yourself that have started from your trauma. The pains in your body that occur from your trauma. We work through the pains it has brought to you and their affect on your life.

To heal from the idea that you are unlovable and that harm is always lurking around the corner.
